Seed-to-Table helps Charles County, Maryland children and their families develop, build, and hone seasonal gardening and healthy cooking skills in a fully accessible environment.
Why Seed-to-Table matters
Children and families across Charles County, Maryland experience food insecurity and low access to healthy eating options, which can lead to negative impacts on health and wellbeing. For families with a member or members who are disabled, these experiences are exacerbated. By empowering Charles County, Maryland residents with knowledge and skills to grow their own herbs and vegetables and use them to prepare healthy low-cost meals at home, Melwood Community Services’ Seed-to-Table program directly addresses food insecurity while building community in a supportive, accessible environment.
