Lulu Moeller is the Director of the Melwood Recreation Center, where Camp Accomplish takes place, as well as the director of the Youth Enrichment Services (YES) Program at Apple Grove Elementary.
Moeller first worked at and experienced the transformative power of a camp for children and adults with disabilities in 2009. They were so enthralled with the camper population, and the staff drawn to work with them, that they returned every summer and fall season possible. The time spent with these campers inspired them to pursue a career in nursing, in which Moeller eventually obtained a doctorate, and to work as the Healthcare Supervisor for their camp. Moeller spent many years recruiting and training excellent nurses, nursing students and camp staff, and sharing a love of camp and deep respect for our camper population. As a person with invisible disabilities, Moeller was drawn to Melwood’s mission, and could not wait for the opportunity to run a fully inclusive camp in collaboration with Children’s National Hospital.
