Elizabeth Foster, Director of Career Exploration and Development for Melwood, has 35+ years of experience providing services to people with disabilities. She first worked for Melwood in the 80s and 90s and returned after a career as a special education teacher.
Foster was a certified special educator in Maine, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. She also served as a National Education Association local affiliation president in Guilford County, North Carolina for two terms.
Foster actively participates in the Neurodiversity Federal Workforce Pilot Program and serves on various community committees, including the Calvert County Commission on Aging and Disabilities, the Adult Guardianship Review Board, the Special Populations Committee for the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, and several statewide committees.
Foster holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Maryland at College Park and an Associate of Science degree in Severe Disabilities from the University of Maine at Farmington.
